Berks Republican Women President, Carla D’Addesi, was invited to the White House to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo is a celebration held every May 5 to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the French forces at the battle of Puebla back in 1962.

Berks Republican Women has Hispanic American Members who are vital to the success of our organization. I was surprised and humbled by the invitation to attend the Cinco de Mayo Celebration at the White House. The tacos and Mariachi band were one of the highlights of the fiesta,” stated BRW President Carla D’Addesi.

Vice President Mike Pence and Karen Pence addressed the intimate gathering of 100 guests who enjoyed the fiesta in the Indian Treaty Room located in the East Wing.

“Besides meeting Vice President Pence and Karen, we were excited to chat with Ben Carson Jr. and his wife who were also guests,” stated Carla.

Geronimo Gutierrez, the Mexican Ambassador to the U.S., addressed the crowd and spoke highly of relations regarding Mexico and the U.S. He stated, “When the U.S, is strong this creates a strong Mexico.”
