The Berks County Republican Women applaud Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale for being the highest ranking elected-official in Pennsylvania to join their successful effort to keep Planned Parenthood out of Reading High School following a recent 5-4 vote by the Reading School Board this past Wednesday, August 23. Victory came after a series of 4 rallies outside of the administration building where School Board Meetings convene. The School Board pushed off the vote each month since May 2017, but needed to vote prior to school starting this coming Monday. “As a public-servant committed to preserving traditional family values, Commissioner Gale’s leadership helped spread the message that parents and legal guardians deserve a strong voice about the content, scope and direction of their children’s education,” explained Carla D’Addesi, President of the Berks County Republican Women.

“The Reading School Board received thousands of emails in response to our Call 2 Action which asked the school to focus on reading, writing and arithmetic rather than allowing a Planned Parenthood Counselor to have a full-time office and access to our kids school,” stated Carla.

According to Commissioner Gale, “The residents of Berks County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania can count on me to be a voice for common-sense concerning issues related to parental and family rights in the arena of public-education. I commend the Reading School Board for listening to the taxpayers and heeding the will of parents, legal guardians and families with their decision to reject a proposal to have Planned Parenthood counselors in Reading High School. Planned Parenthood has no role in teaching young people about sexual education. As the nation’s leading abortion mill, Planned Parenthood has forfeited their moral right to instruct teens in taxpayer-funded academic facilities.”

In trusted partnership, the Berks County Republican Women and Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale pledge to stand firm with students and families across Reading School District, Berks County and the state of Pennsylvania in an effort to keep classrooms free from partisan agendas. Mr. Gale noted, “I promise to remain steadfast in working to guarantee that families have two hands on the wheel when it comes to steering their children’s education.”
